Black and White in Technicolor

In this series I combine bold black and white statements mainly, “stripes”, with a colorful composition of varying shapes as an under painting. Then I continue the process by adding more layers of paint using a dominant color. The inspiration for this series comes from seeing, The Wizard of Oz as a child. The moment Dorothy steps from a black and white Kansas landscape into the colorful Land of Oz had a lasting visual impact and drove me to express that in this group of paintings.
